Obituary
Our dear friend and colleague Jan Wallace (10.9.1931-9.3.2022) died this Spring. She was a founder member of IYCE and always supported our work. She attended classes with Susan Long for over thirty years and for a short while classes with Lois Shilton.
IYCE sends condolences to all of Jan's family and friends.
Workshop with Michelle and Denise
Michelle and Denise taught a fabulous workshop on 14 May 2022. The focus of the class was Utthita Parsvakonasana - did anyone count how many times we did this asana? With so many interesting asanas in between it was fresh each time and lovely on the hips. Thank you Michelle and Denise.
Subscriptions
The Trustees of IYCE extended the free subscription to March 2023 due to Covid-19. We are pleased to announce that the Trustees have decided to make this a permanent situation. You will still receive IYCE News and events information and booking forms as before. If any of your yoga friends would like to receive these mailings ask them to email their names and email addresses to [email protected] and we will add them to the list of supporters.
Iyengar Yoga Convention
Ten Iyengar Yoga practitioners from Essex attended the National Iyengar Yoga Convention in Harrogate on 28-30 May 2022. We had wonderful classes with Margaret Austin and worked hard. We are all looking forward to the next Convention.
Yoga Day with Susan Long 9 July 2022
Susan will teach a full day of yoga at Highwood Village Hall on 9 July 2022. This will be suitable for all levels of practitioners. The booking form was mailed with the IYCE News Summer 2022. If you want a booking form email [email protected] and we will send one to you. Book early to ensure you get a place.
Sunday Pranayama Classes with Susan
Susan's monthly pranayama class is on the first Sunday of each month. The next group of classes start on 3 July (other classes on 7 August and 4 September). Contact Susan by email [email protected] or send a message to 07460 101 510 to book a place on all three classes or an individual class.
Professional Development Day 17 September 2022
Iyengar Yoga Teachers have to attend a Professional Development Day and/or other specialist training, to maintain their status as registered teachers. The theme of the PD Day in 2021 was Embracing the Menopause. The theme this year is Exploring some of the new asanas in the Level 1 and Level 2 syllabus. The date for the PD Day in Essex is the 17 September 2022 at Highwood Village Hall. Susan will lead the day. Other PD Days are listed on the IY(UK) website.
Friday Workshops with Claire Hanrahan
Claire's popular Fridayevening workshops are on the second Friday of each month at Highwood Village Hall from 18:45 to 20:45. Students should have attended classes for at least one year to join these workshops.
